INDIA LAUNCHES FIRST MARS-BOUND SPACECRAFT
India has successfully launched a spacecraft to the Red Planet - with the aim of becoming the fourth space agency to reach Mars. India successfully launches its first rocket bound for Mars, a complex mission that it hopes will demonstrate and advance technologies for space travel. Mangalyaan, which means "Mars craft" in Hindi, must travel some 485m miles over 300 days to reach the Red Planet next September. The 1,350kg Mangalyaan orbiter was headed first into an elliptical orbit around Earth, after which a series of technical maneuvers and short burns will raise its orbit before it slingshots toward Mars.

EXPENSIVE CANCER MEDICINES FORCE MYANMAR PATIENTS TO TURN TO INDIAN IMPORTS
As the majority of cancer-curing medications are expensive, most patients are relying on medicine imported from India, cancer specialist Dr. Soe Aung told a health forum on eliminating cancer through education. By using certain cancer medicines, patients can destroy some cancer cells. As more remedies for cancer treatment have emerged, many cancers can at least be managed if not completely cured. Myanmar imported more than US$150 million worth of medicine in the 2009-2010 financial year. For the 2012-13 financial year, that figure has increased to more than $244 million.

WORLD TO SEE BOOM IN BIG FIRMS
An additional 7,000 companies globally are expected to become large enterprises with revenues of more than $1 billion by 2025, with 70 percent of them likely to be based in emerging regions, especially China, a report has said. The new report also said that many more large companies will develop in emerging cities and countries from the current 8,000 large companies worldwide, 75 percent of which are based in developed regions.China is without a doubt the most powerful growth engine for new global companies, and now is the time for forward-thinking cities to build their reputations among Chinese business leaders.

TURKEY REOPENS BORDER GATE WITH SYRIA
Turkey reopened the Oncupinar border gate with Syria in the southern province of Kilis after seven weeks' closure due to security concerns. The border gate had been closed since Sept. 19, when clashes erupted in Syria's Azez, and only opened for convoys of humanitarian aids. The gate is now open to all and the Esseleme border gate has also been opened by Syria. Turkey, once an ally of Damascus but now a leading force against it, has purportedly provided Syrian rebel leaders with sanctuary.
